MaNiDa is an Italian quartet that formed in the summer of 2020 with the goal of creating an original and personal sound, blending jazz, classical, and pop influences and intentionally avoiding the use of harmonic instruments.
Their music is characterized by intricate melodic intertwining that alternates between episodes of melodic counterpoint with moments that recall choral harmonies.
Their debut album, Foreṡìa, was released on April 5, 2024, under the Norwegian label AMP Music & Records.
The name Foreṡìa is taken from a term used in zoology signifying a parasitic relationship observed in certain organisms, where one attaches itself to another for the purpose of travel.
MaNiDa’s music seeks to transport listeners to a world where emotions coexist in symbiosis with the individual, sometimes peacefully, sometimes
taking over like parasites.
In the summer of 2021, MaNiDa achieved significant recognition by winning the Music 4 The Next Generation competition, judged by a jury that included artists such as GeGè Telesforo, Roberto Cipelli, and Alberto Martini.
In 2024, they won the Largo ai Giovani competition, held as part of Jazz a Forlì 2024, with a jury chaired by Francesco Bearzatti.
On April 30, 2022, for International Jazz Day, they opened GeGè Telesforo’s concert at Teatro Ristori in Verona.
In June 2024, they were featured on Piazza Verdi, a jazz music program on Rai Radio3, a national broadcasting station in Italy.
